Matheny Medical and Educational Center, a unique special hospital and school for children and adults with medically complex developmental disabilities, is seeking a:
ASSISTANT HOUSEKEEPING SUPERVISOR
Assists the housekeeping manager in the supervision and performance of the cleaning, disinfection, and laundry services daily by working with housekeeping team to ensure high standards of cleanliness.
Makes regular rounds at the request of ES Manager of all units to check the work of co-workers while monitoring and maintaining the cleanliness of environments.
Reports to ES manager on conditions, concerns, complaints, and needs of each unit.
Assumes responsibility of Housekeeping Manager in his/her absence.
Provides on-the-job training for new employees.
Performs all work required of housekeeping aide/custodian.
Must be able to problem solve and have excellent communication skills to interact with various departments.
Allocate job responsibilities of ES staff working with ES manager daily.
Senior housekeeper cleans as well, and inspects rooms and areas cleaned daily while providing ES manager with written and verbal feedback.
During inspections, ensure the cleanliness of each area is up to the standards required.
Scheduling of staff when required.
Ordering and keeping proper inventory of linens and ES supplies.
Participates in, and enforces quality assurance for housekeeping department.
Assigns team members duties, and inspects work for conformance to prescribed standards of cleanliness.
Investigates concerns regarding housekeeping services and takes corrective action.
Confirms arrival of all housekeeping staff daily.
Maintains high quality of housekeeping standards.
Submits requests for repairs, and maintenance needs when required.
Ensures proper maintenance of equipment, advises ES manager of repairs needed.
Conduct inspections, and document findings of rooms requested by ES Manager.
Monitor the proper use of cleaning chemicals, expiration dates etc.
Continuously seek and make improvements to the overall housekeeping functions.
Assisting ES Manager in supervising the daily cleaning of assigned tasks, while working along staff to ensure completion of duties.
Activator/self-motivated to accomplish team and personal goals with a strong sense of responsibility.
Assists ES manager with investigating pest/ rodent concerns and or complaints.
Participates and becomes educated with Joint Commission Standards.
High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
Education may be substituted with relevant experience.
Ability to direct and supervise the work of others.
Three years of housekeeping or custodial experience, including or supplemented by one year of supervisory experience in a health care facility.
Ability to speak English and communicate effectively verbally and in writing, bilingual a plus.
Valid driver’s license and good driving record, furnished upon request.
Ability to operate all housekeeping equipment.
Capable of using independent judgement/solid decision making skills ability.
