Matheny Medical and Educational Center, a unique special hospital and school for children and adults with medically complex developmental disabilities, is seeking a:
Certified Commercial HVAC Technician
Install, maintains and repair heating, ventilation, and cooling units. Diagnose and repair electronic, mechanical and electrical components of these systems.
Ability to repair and maintain heat pumps, ventilation systems, steam and water boilers, rooftop package units, VRV systems, motors, etc.
Investigates problems and performs repairs on various mechanical and electrical equipment in heating, cooling and ventilation systems.
Meet key productivity metrics and goals as set by facilities Manager.
Performs a wide variety of skilled and complex maintenance requests ensuring that maintenance issues are resolved in a safe, effective and timely manner. Repairs and projects include but are not limited to plumbing, electrical and lighting, painting and spackling, sheetrock repair and installation, carpet installation and landscaping.
Maintain proper stock, parts and inventory of crucial components.
Document all work performed including make, serial numbers, to facilities manager for recording of preventive maintenance and repairs.
Perform general and preventive maintenance on HVAC systems.
Travel to group homes for trouble shooting and repairs of systems.
Be available to work nights and weekends as required and to service emergency needs of our systems.
Ensure all work is done in accordance to the set standards.
Ensure calibration of thermostats and other controls.
Maintains grounds and shrubbery in a neat condition. Utilizes landscaping equipment properly.
Completes assignments and reports findings to the Facilities Manager.
Assists with snow removal.
Maintains knowledge of emergency systems and procedures; Assists with alarm system activities. Replaces bulbs and batteries in exit signs and security lights as required.
Completes assigned work orders in a timely and efficient manner.
Maintains a clean work area.
Performs a variety of maintenance repairs and installations such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, spackling and other related maintenance functions.
High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Electrical knowledge and certification a plus.
New Jersey Driver’s License required.
New Jersey Low Pressure Boiler License preferred. Current HVAC Certification
Highly organized and able to work well on a team.
5+ Years’ experience in HVAC service repair, and maintenance, troubleshooting and correcting diverse HVAC service issues.
Strong trouble-shooting and problem solving skills.
Good analytical skills and attention to detail with the ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and manuals.
Ability to work independently in a timely manner
Knowledge of Johnson Controls
